Voyces presents a concert of late16th and 17th century masterworks influenced by the Roman School. Super flumina Babylonis by Tomás Luis de Victoria is a towering polychoral setting of Psalm 137 "By the waters of Babylon". Jephte an oratorio by the "Father of the oratorio" Giacomo Carissimi, sets to music the tragic biblical story of the general Jephthah and his rash vow that leads to an unthinkable sacrifice. The magnificent and martial Te Deum, H.146 by Marc-Antoine Charpentier is the ultimate celebration motet. With Young Voyces and Voyces Baroque Ensemble.
