Via Italia: Musical Roads Leading to Italy
Music from German composers in the “Italian” style
From the 15th Century through the 19th Century, musicians and composers throughout Europe sought to emulate the musical language originating in Italy. In this program, we perform works of German composers of the 18th Century created in a florid “Italian” style. Written for a combination of instruments: violin, oboe, recorder, cello and bassoon, you’ll hear music of Fasch, Telemann, Pepusch and, yes…Vivaldi.
